Anxiety can present itself in many guises. Some would consider excitement to be a healthy form of anxiety and I would agree.
The type of anxiety I am discussing here though, is the type fuelled by fear that feels unpleasant.
Some people believe that anxiety is all in your head, but this is not true as it can be responsible for creating unwanted side effects, physical and or psychological which may include; panic attack, insomnia, palpitations, OCD, dizzy or light headedness, shortness of breath, tight or painful chest, feelings of nausea, nerves, stress, to name only some.
When anxiety persists and begins to hold you back in life by stopping you from doing what you want to do it is probably time to make some changes.
At this stage some people seek help from the medical profession in the form of prescription medications and some seek counseling or other alternative therapy or a combination of the two.
And that is where I come in using my skills in a combination of counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), neuro linguistic programming (NLP), time line therapy (TLT) and clinical hypnosis (Hypnotherapy)
“Hypnotherapy is widely promoted as a treatment for various long term conditions including anxiety and does seem to have an effect.”
(NHS CHOICE website), just google nhs anxiety and hypnotherapy to view the full article.
Using this powerful combination it doesn’t have to take a long time to move forward, in fact positive results can be achieved quickly. I have worked in this way with many people from all walks of life between 4 and 87 years old.
The first thing I do when working with clients with anxiety is to listen and ask questions as they put their anxieties into words. During this counseling session I learn what is going on for my client and my client is often surprised at the stuff that comes up.
When the truth is out logic can be applied which can make the anxiety less powerful. The more you think about anxiety the bigger it is likely to become and so it is useful to think about positive outcomes, I can help with this and other techniques.
NLP techniques are also useful and effective in quickly making the changes necessary to leaving anxiety in the past. You can use NLP to change the way you see, hear and feel things in your mind and once learned they can be easily and safely used in the future to overcome unwanted thoughts and feelings.
TLT is excellent for eliminating the fear from which anxiety is based, which is always in the past. The anxiety model is a fantastic technique that once learned can be used for setting goals as well as many other scenarios.
Hypnotherapy is very relaxing and excellent for letting unwanted anxiety go. during this relaxing experience as your hypnotherapist I can make positive suggestions to support you in moving forward. These suggestions can bypass conscious negative beliefs and engage directly with your unconscious mind placing new and positive affirmations straight into your brain.
Anxiety is like a Sunflower seed. The more you feed it (rich soil, water, sun) the bigger and stronger it becomes.
DON’T FEED ANXIETY!
You feed anxiety by thinking or talking about it over and over again.
IGNORE YOUR ANXIETY!
Stop checking in on it and it will become smaller and eventually disappear. It sounds simple and for some people it is. It doesn’t have to take a long time to move beyond debilitating anxiety, success can be rapid.
